The Big Apple has so much to offer, including food allergies. Thankfully, there are thousands of dining options throughout the city. NYC has gluten free options in almost every restaurant as well as nut and shellfish free dishes. The allergists at NY Allergy & Sinus Centers knows how overwhelming it can be deciding on an allergy friendly restaurant. That’s why we provided a list of some of our favorite allergy friendly places to cater to your allergy needs.

Bareburger

If you’re craving a burger, head over to Bareburger for a delicious vegan, gluten free, or nut free meal. They use organic ingredients whenever possible in all of their locations throughout NYC. Bareburger posts their full menu online with every ingredient listed. Their site is also kid friendly to guide your little ones to the right choices for them.

Duke’s NYC

Sometimes in the north, it’s hard to find good southern food. Duke’s NYC is the closest you will get to comfort food. Their menu consists of fried pickles, mac n’ cheese, bbq wings, and more. The best thing about this restaurant is that it is completely nut free. The next time you’re in the mood for comfort food, head over to Duke’s.

Pie By The Pound

This is NYC, notorious for some of the best pizza. Pie By The Pound is no exception. This pizza shop offers a gluten free option for every item on their menu. They also have dairy and nut free options. The only downside to this restaurant is that there is only one location. So, you may have to wait a while to get a slice of this allergy-friendly pizza.

Chipotle

We understand that not everyone has the time to sit down and dine inside a restaurant. That’s why we included this fast food chain. Chipotle is one of the best chains for accommodating its customers. Their employees are knowledgeable about allergies and allergic reactions, including allergy-induced anaphylaxis. They have nut, dairy, sesame, egg, shellfish, and dairy free options. This covers the majority of the major allergens. Chipotle always has an allergy card available for customers and can even prepare items not listed on the menu to make it allergy friendly. Now that’s what we call good customer service.

Erin McKenna’s Bakery

We had to end this list with a delicious bakery. Erin McKenna’s is one of the best allergy friendly bakeries in NYC. Their products are 100% vegan, gluten, dairy, egg, and soy free. They choose to sweeten their goods with agave nectar instead of refined sugars. This bakery also uses all natural food colorings to prevent any food coloring allergies. However, their goods aren’t nut free as they use coconut oil for baking. While many consumers with a tree nut allergy can eat coconut, it’s best to visit an allergist to make sure it is safe for you. NY Allergy & Sinus Centers provide a quick skin prick allergy test to diagnose your allergies, as well as multiple other tests.
